Anyone's Daughter

Anyone's Daughter is a German progressive rock band founded in 1972 in Stuttgart by Uwe Karpa und Matthias Ulmer. The band started out playing covers of Deep Purple and others, and named themselves after the Deep Purple song released in 1971.

Anyone's Daughter is considered playing Progressive Rock, similar to German bands like Eloy and 'Novalis'. Their first album, 'Adonis' of 1979, was compared to 'Selling England by the Pound' by 'Genesis'.

Like Steppenwolf with their German-born singer John Kay, they in 2002 played in Calw in a festival honoring German author Hermann Hesse. "Piktors Verwandlungen", a 40 minute piece after a fairy tale by Hesse, was narrated by Heinz Rudolf Kunze.
